Say No To Plastic – Plastic Free Day
Plastic pollution is a global catastrophe and sadly it is a man-made one. Did you know that approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used on a global scale? This is having an extremely detrimental effect on the environment, wildlife and indeed human health. To educate our tiny tots of this hazard, the School celebrated International Plastic Bag Free Day on 2nd July 2021. A backdrop was used to bring heightening awareness about these real and pressing issues brought about by this most popular of disposable carrying devices. This educative session had a profound impact on students regarding plastic use.
Celebrating Independence Day
Independence day is celebrated on 15th August every year. This day in 1947, marked the birth of the World’s largest democracy, when India got its freedom. This year the students celebrated our 75th Independence Day on the virtual platform. Different activities were conducted for the students, such as; making a badge, making a tri-coloured flower. Some students spoke about our Independence day attired as freedom fighters. Taking the e-media route they set an example that no kind of obstacle could stop them from paying tribute to their nation. All the students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the activities.
Commemorating Sadhbhavana Diwas
The Sadbhavana Diwas or Harmony Day is celebrated every year on 19th August 2021 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister of India Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Sadbhavna means having compassion for others which was the only the mission of the government of Shri Rajiv Gandhi. The teachers decorated their bulletin boards depicting the significance of “Sadbhavana Diwas” which is to promote National Integration and communal harmony among the people of all religions, languages. Goodwill towards everyone and mitigating violence are the motto of the “Sadbhavana Diwas”. The kids were encouraged to promote and practice peace, national integrity, love, affection and communal harmony among Indians of all religions.
World Sanskrit Day
World Sanskrit Day or Sanskrit Diwas is also known as Vishvasamskritadinam. SKZ celebrated Sanskrit Diwas to spread awareness, promote and revive the most ancient and culturally rich Language. The importance of Sanskrit language was explained by the teachers. They told the kids that it attributes to various Indian heritage. The children were informed that the Hindu pujas and mantras are recited in Sanskrit and therefore this language is also known as Dev Vani means God’s language. The day aimed to educate tiny tots about this beautiful language.
Celebrating Raksha Bandhan
Raksha Bandhan is a popular traditional Hindu festival. It is one of the most cherished moments to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. To commemorate the festival, SKZ organized a Rakhi making activity for the students of the Nursery and Prep classes. The students actively participated in the activity and made colourful Rakhis using decorative threads, stars, mirrors, pearls and flowers. Some students also made videos with their siblings in which spirit of togetherness and love could be felt strongly. The event was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour.
